Led by the seasoned songwriter Rhett Malachowski, whose musical journey spans over two decades, Dub Nectar infuses the rich sounds of reggae with elements of punk and ska, creating a signature sound that is both infectious and soulful.
Rhett's musical vision finds its heartbeat in the rhythmic pulse of Mike Bailey's drumming. A seasoned veteran of the Salt Lake reggae circuit, Mike's groove provides the backbone upon which Dub Nectar's sonic tapestry is woven. All band members have been instrumental in shaping the reggae landscape of Salt Lake City, performing in multiple bands and honing their craft night after night.
Joining forces with Rhett and Mike are the virtuosic talents of Steven Ramos on saxophone and keyboard, and Bradshaw Cisneros on bass. Steven's mastery of the saxophone adds a dynamic layer of melody and texture to Dub Nectar's sound, while Bradshaw's basslines provide the perfect foundation for the band's infectious rhythms. Together, they form the powerhouse quartet that is Dub Nectar.
Drawing inspiration from his Southern California roots, Rhett's songwriting is heavily influenced by the likes of Sublime and other punk icons. This eclectic mix of influences infuses Dub Nectar's music with a raw energy and authenticity that sets them apart in the reggae scene.
With over 15 years of experience in the reggae circuit, Dub Nectar emerged in 2023, from the ashes of SLC’s Newborn Slaves, a testament to the band's evolution and growth. From humble beginnings to commanding stages across Salt Lake City, Dub Nectar continues to spread their message of positivity and unity through their infectious grooves and uplifting melodies.
